The effects of massage on the mind

Massage treatment  is one of earliest remedial practices known to man. It is one of the most natural and instinctive means of relieving pain and discomfort which was nearly practiced in  all ancient cultures and developed and taught primarily by physicians.  Medical books since 500 B.C records extensively about massage treatment. History states that this treatment has been used by Chinese ever  since 3000 B.C.
Massage therapy dilates the blood vessels, improves the circulation and relieves  congestion throughout the body. By improving the general circulation, it increases the nutrition of the tissues. It is accompanied or followed by an increased interchange of substances between the blood and tissue cells heightening tissue metabolism. It acts as a “mechanical cleanser,” stimulating lymph circulation and hastening the elimination of wastes and toxic debris.  It relaxes muscle spasm and relieves tension and increases blood supply and nutrition to muscles without adding to their load of toxic lactic acid, produced through voluntary muscle contraction. Thus, it helps to prevent buildup of harmful “fatigue”products resulting from strenuous exercise or injury. Massage also improves muscle tone and helps prevent or delay muscular atrophy resulting from forced inactivity. It can compensate, in part, for lack of exercise and muscular contraction in persons who, because of injury, illness, or age, are forced to remain inactive. In these cases, massage helps return venous blood to the heart and thus eases the strain on this vital organ. It may have a sedative, stimulating or even exhausting effect on the nervous system depending on the type and length of massage treatment given. It increases the excretion (via the kidneys) of fluids and waste products of protein metabolism, inorganic phosphorus and salt in normal individuals and encourages the retention of nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur necessary for tissue repair in persons convalescing from bone fractures. Massage also stretches connective tissue, improves its circulation and nutrition and so breaks down or prevents the formation of adhesions and reduces the danger of fibrosis.
Thus massage has abundance of positive effects on the human physiology and thus helps in elimination of harmful deposits, lessens inflammation and swelling in joints and so alleviates pain, reduces edema (or dropsy) of the extremities, disperses the edema following injury to ligaments and tendons, lessens pain and facilitates movement.  It makes you feel good and relieves stress and tensions, mental and physical fatigue. Facial massage tones the skin, helps prevent blemished skin. Thru massage, deep relaxation is induced and insomnia relieved and muscular spasms are relieved. Obesity and flabby muscles can be improved when combined with proper exercise and diet programs. Mildly high blood pressure is temporarily reduced and Joint mobility can be increased through effective massage.
We have separate Male and Female clinical massage therapists who have an excellent hands on experience. They give rejenuvating massage for enhancing the circulation and cleansing the lymph nodes  for faster healing. Come and enjoy the feeling and benefits.
