And I am not talking about trains although I wrote this whilst travelling home from a busy day at work in Central London. It suddenly hit me - compared to yesterday the relationship between young and old in the family is breaking up, is moving further and further apart. Yesterday the family were so close, mother, father, two loving children - then BAM! sin comes into play and breaks the wonderful picture. Why? Is it because not only is the gap between our elders and children growing bigger and bigger but the gap between ourselves and God is getting bigger and bigger? There should be no obstacles in our way!
Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father and the man as brethren. The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity. (1 Tim 5:1-2)
